This is a general assignment position that would entail covering breaking and trending news of all types with a production capacity of 5 to 10 stories a week.
This passionate, focused and curious reporter and nimble storyteller will have a passion for digital journalism, jump on trends and breaking news, write quickly on deadline, and occasionally stretch to produce deep-dive profiles, trend pieces and long-term enterprise. The reporter will have to be able to turn around quick enterprise on breaking news stories for publication that day or next morning. Those stories must be inciteful, impactful and bring analysis to our readers off breaking news and do it quickly on deadline. The reporter will be able to produce compelling multimedia assets and social engagement and have strong SEO skills.
The reporter will cultivate an engaging, active and inclusive social-media presence. The reporter will coordinate with our visuals team but should have photo and video skills, and must be comfortable appearing on video.
Occasional weekend and evening hours are required. Must have a positive, collaborative attitude; be flexible and willing to pivot as news demands.
This role requires a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the minimum liability insurance required by state law.DUTIES:
Creates content (articles, videos, photos and social media posts) that accurately informs, entertains and engages key audiences and platforms through the use of metrics. Provides thoughtful analysis of complex issues.Works with editors and analysts to evaluate what's working and what's not, and develops ongoing plans to better satisfy audience needs.Collaborates with visuals and production team to provide all appropriate elements for stories (i.e. photos, videos and graphics). Captures photos and video as needed.Performs other duties as assigned.

The goal of this role is to increase audience through content that serves distinct Spanish-preferred audiences in diverse communities across the country.

The Director/Spanish Initiatives has the skill and knowledge to develop a creative, ambitious and achievable plan to reach and engage a diverse audience of Spanish speakers, to build teams of content creators, and to quickly scale experiments for maximum impact across markets. The person in this role understands how to identify new audiences, create relevant experiences, and encourage engagement in ways that contribute to the financial outcomes that support enterprise growth. The Director has a deep understanding of content distribution tactics of relevance to Spanish-preferred audiences (WhatsApp, SEO, off-platform distribution) and the ability to turn audience analytics into actionable insight.)

The Director will drive this new venture, including P&L responsibility and goals tied both to audience and revenue. The Director will be tasked with leveraging the talent already within Gannett and then identifying roles to build and fill.

The Director will:
1. Drive cross-departmental commitment to and plan growth initiatives, from identifying capability gaps to prioritizing engineering needs and coordinating with newsrooms to ensure requirements are met to achieve the Company’s strategic priorities in Spanish.
