What we’re doing:
We’re adding a select few senior contributors to our team to meet fast-growing demand for our high-quality, independent investment advice. Senior contributors will have the opportunity to help investors answer questions from the definite, “should I buy Tesla stock?” to the broad “what’s the best way to profit from 5G technology?” to the even broader “how will the Fed impact the markets?” and everything in between.
If you've developed expertise over a career as an investing professional and have craved the opportunity to share your views on the market to a material and engaged audience, then this role might just be for you. If you are already writing content for investors – via newsletter, blog, or otherwise – this opportunity would extend the reach of your thoughts, ideas, and byline. For those with existing subscription newsletter businesses, we’d be interested in discussing how we can help grow your business.
We're looking for senior contributors who have BOTH:
• Serious financial chops, and
• The ability to communicate their findings to retail investors
Our editorial team will work with you to determine assignments that align with your voice, vision, and expertise. Assignments could be focused on stocks (much like you would at a buy-side or sell-side shop) or takes on industries and evolving technologies. But instead of reiterating dry facts for a handful of portfolio managers or direct clients, you're going to add opinion and intrigue to the stock recommendations or industry and market prognostications you make.
That means we're looking for market analysts with personality.
In other words, your goal at InvestorPlace is to create engaging content that is more entertaining and informative than what you’ll find anywhere else. You’ll have the opportunity to create – or grow – your following by delivering compelling content to our large audience.
Responsibilities
• Research, analyze and write about public companies, financial education, investment opportunities, macroeconomic commentary, or sectors of the economy (energy, monetary policy, defense, etc.)
• Create in-depth content for InvestorPlace.com's news team
• Alter the content you produce as the business needs evolve
• Contribute one article per week. This is flexible, in that it is not a hard obligation, nor is it a limit. The key is that the highest value from this, or any, opportunity will be achieved through regular and consistent contributions.
Qualifications
• At least five years of experience performing equity, market, or economic analysis. Whether you gained this experience while working for a hedge fund, a VC firm, a mutual fund, an institutional investment business, or just from hours and hours of pouring through Benjamin Graham books on your own, the important qualification for us is that you are comfortable digging in deep to understand the underlying characteristics of a business and its stock price.
• Demonstrated experience writing about equities, markets, and industries. We will request writing samples from qualified candidates.
• Ability to produce content within communicated timelines. Participate in publishing high-quality content in collaboration with editorial staff in an open, good-faith, and professional manner.
Compensation
• This is a part-time, freelance role, and as such, consideration is based on a very competitive per-article fee for each article produced, plus variable compensation based on page views.
• For contributors who already reach an audience via a newsletter (i.e., via Substack or similar), let’s talk. When we promote content you’ve written exclusively for InvestorPlace.com, we can promote your newsletter or related premium services. Through conversation we can determine the right compensation model for referrals we could send your way as a complement to the per-article fee.
Location
• This is a remote, work-from-home role. InvestorPlace offices are located in Arlington, VA and Baltimore, MD.
