We are looking for a Global Aviation Safety Engineer (Mid-Level or Senior) to join our team in Everett, Washington.

The Boeing Global Aviation Safety team partners with industry/government consortia, airlines and Civil Aviation Authorities worldwide to identify and mitigate risk in the global aviation system.

Position Responsibilities:
• Apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to analyze and develop solutions to complex problems that represent risk to the global aviation transportation system
• Analyze aviation industry safety data to identify trends, conduct root cause analysis, and work collaboratively with Boeing and industry stakeholders to develop mitigations
• Act as an internal advocate for continuous enhancement of the level of safety of Boeing products in all phases of the product life cycle
• Perform various analyses for safety, reliability, maintainability, human systems integration, threats and hazards, and other specialties; identify and advocate for Boeing product and global aviation system safety enhancements
• Develop resources, tools and processes for Boeing’s global team of aviation safety practitioners to communicate relevant safety information, and to be successful in their engagements with aviation stakeholders worldwide; provide support and mentorship as required
• Reinforce the Boeing Company’s role as an aviation industry safety leader by participating actively in aviation industry safety initiatives and forums as a representative of the company

This position allows some telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite in Everett, WA.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
• Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, aviation or a transportation related
• 3+ years of experience working in aviation safety
• Experience with aircraft incident/accident categories
• Experience with safety data analysis tools and techniques

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
• 5+ years of engineering experience
• Experience with ADREP and other taxonomies
• Experience identifying, classifying and mitigating aviation industry safety issues
• Experience with accident classification, analysis of causal factors, and development and implementation of mitigating actions, including safety recommendations and safety enhancements
• Experience with safety advocacy and safety promotion
• Experience implementing and/or working within a Safety Management System (SMS) and/or Quality Management System (QMS) and GMM airline organization structure
• Experience with ICAO, IATA, Flight Safety Foundation, FAA CAST, JIMDAT, RASTs/RASGs, COSCAPs and/or other aviation industry safety customer groups and organizations
• Experience with industry safety data sharing programs and initiatives, such as ASIAS, D4S, AP Share and FDX, and experience analyzing aviation safety data and statistics to identify trends
• Experience with airline operations, including FOQA, FDM, MEL, Dispatch, Maintenance and Engineering, ANSP, Continued Airworthiness, Service Bulletins and Airworthiness Directives
• Experience with internal and external industry safety audit programs, such as IOSA for airlines, or USOAP and/or IASA for Civil Aviation Authorities
• Experience with Human Factors analysis methodologies and their application to aviation accidents and incidents

Typical Education/Experience:
Level 3 (Mid-Level)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
