Position Description

The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal investigative body for the U.S.

House of Representatives. Ranking Member Jamie Raskin (D-MD) seeks an attorney with

several years of investigative, oversight, or litigation experience for an Investigative Counsel

position on the Democratic staff. In this role, you will work with a team of passionate and

supportive colleagues and manage all aspects of high-profile congressional investigations.

Potential day-to-day work includes drafting letters, negotiating with counsel,

conducting depositions and transcribed interviews, preparing reports and memoranda, briefing

the Ranking Member and other Committee Members and preparing for congressional hearings. This is not an entry-level position. Experience with taking or defending depositions is strongly preferred. Previous Hill desired but not required. Candidates with diverse backgrounds and experiences are strongly encouraged to apply.

Position Requirements

Work Experience and Education:

Responsibilities
• Configures and supports all aspects of the local area network, to include virtual servers, desktop and laptop computers, printers, and mobile devices.
• Responsible for managing computer system user accounts and maintaining computer system security through assigned rights and permissions based on user job responsibilities.
• Analyzes and resolves general network, workstation, and peripheral equipment problems.
• Provides basic computer training and assistance to staff of the Sergeant at Arms. When additional training (through House Information Resources or an outside vendor) is warranted, incumbent will provide contacts and, if necessary, arrange the training.
• Responsible for managing all telecommunications equipment for the Sergeant at Arms, to include two-way radios, mobile devices (iPhones, iPads, Android tablets), and other devices used to facilitate communications between employees of the SAA.
• Maintains office equipment and telecommunications inventories for all departments under the jurisdiction of the Sergeant at Arms.
• Maintains the network disaster recovery plan and assists with the management of equipment at offsite facilities.
• Supports House Recovery Operations structure.
• Act as technical assistant for day-to-day House Operations Center activities. Performs routine activities in an Operations Center environment, to include equipment validation, communications efficacy, and software tools to assist the House in its response to and recovery from emergency situations.
• Assist and support House emergency management training, exercise and assessment activities.
• Assists with basic SQL Server database support and maintenance, when necessary.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Work Experience and Education:

Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience, required; professional/industry certifications preferred; demonstrated computer experience with application software (i.e. Microsoft Office 365 applications); familiarity with MS Access and SQL Server database structure, design and maintenance; working knowledge of managing MS Active Directory objects; experience with Microsoft IIS and managing websites, technical support, and/or software development a plus; previous experience on Capitol Hill and knowledge of policies and procedures of the House of Representatives preferred. Must be able to successfully pass a criminal history records check. Must possess or be able to successfully obtain a Top-Secret security clearance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to interact at a high level with Members, Congressional staff, and the general public; available to work outside of normal business hours, evenings and weekends when necessary. Applicant must possess strong troubleshooting skills, critical thinking skills to solve complex technical problems, oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
