JOB SUMMARY
is seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Accounting Manager.

Under the direction of the VP of Finance, the Accounting Manager will plan, perform and lead the accounting activities of the organization and play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial record keeping in accordance with GAAP, IRS regulations and non-profit best practices.

By leading the entire function you will be expected to work independently, with support of AR/AP and Payroll processors, and be willing to perform mundane tasks while also having high visibility in partnering with leaders across the business.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role you will:
Manage general ledger and own entire process of month, quarter, and year-end close procedures which includes but not limited to preparing and/or reviewing journal entries, creating and maintaining accounting schedules, account reconciliations and presentation of results to VP of Finance

Handle annual audit and tax return (form 990) preparation in coordination with external audit firm: performs account analysis, prepare audit and 990 schedules, support audit field work

Coordinates with Development team for monthly revenue recognition - tracking grant and major gift pledges, including oversight for donor restrictions

Develop, document, and implement accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

Design and implement effective accounting processes, identify and document gaps in current processes, recommend innovative and scalable solutions, and carry out best practices

Perform, coordinate, administer, and control accounting system operations - evaluating current systems and proposing changes to management

Support federal grant in coordination with Programs team by revenue tracking, billing, and reporting in a timely manner according to all contracts and agreements

Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings while remaining current on regulatory requirements

Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned including ad hoc analysis and projects

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

We seek candidates who have:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration required

Five or more year of related experience required with demonstrated growth in the field

Certified Public Accountant designation and/or Non-profit accounting experience a plus

Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements including financial audits

Possess a high level of business sense and ability to speak to and work with all levels within the organization

Comfortable performing transactional work as well as switching between tactical and strategic thinking when appropriate

Strong analytical and problem solving ability

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Ability to work productively in a team oriented environment, as well, as independently and to be flexible and responsive

Be highly comfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguous, informal work environment

A high level of digital literacy is required; expertise in Quickbooks Online (or other accounting software) and proficiency with Microsoft Office and G-Suite as well as an advanced or expert user of spreadsheets (Excel and/or G-Sheets).
Willingness to develop and grow with the organization

Experience supervising a small team

In addition, candidates must:
Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident

Pass a pre-employment background check

Be willing to travel a minimum of two times per year for team events

JOB SUMMARY

Code.org is looking for an experienced and creative designer with the drive to own end-to-end design work across our website and training tools used to educate and empower millions of teachers and students all over the world!

You will solve design challenges related to our website, brand, marketing materials, and educational tutorials. Your work will have the potential to reach millions of students and teachers worldwide. This role is full-time and remote-friendly.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

What You'll Do:

• Build out our component library and assist in the development of our new Design System

• Work with internal and external team members to develop and deploy functional and cosmetic updates to our brand

• Design for tools, tutorials, and development environments used for teaching and learning computer science (grades K-12)

• Assist in design sprints and create mock ups and testable prototypes

• Work closely with our Teacher Acquisition, Professional Learning, and Student Experiences team to provide product design solutions

• Provide product and graphic design solutions for other Code.org projects and initiatives, including Hour of Code

• Conduct user testing virtually and in-person

• Assist with visual design element, such as photography, illustrations, and infographics for our site and marketing materials

• Assist with managing interns and external contractors as needed

You will need to be comfortable managing ambiguity, thinking creatively to solve problems, and communicating your design ideas and rationale, both verbally and visually.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

We seek candidates who have:

• 5+ years of UX/UI experience on websites or apps with a portfolio reflecting that experience

• Experience building component libraries and design systems

• Experience using Figma and Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator

• An understanding of responsive design, localization, and accessibility

• A portfolio of 3-6 pieces that demonstrates visual design skills to make activities fun and appealing to children

• A firm grasp on gestalt principles, information architecture, and standard methodologies for web and mobile

• Intuition and passion for interaction design

• Ability to communicate with engineers, product managers, and marketing team to create solutions that are well designed and technically feasible

• Shown ability to own end-to-end design for a product, including research, analysis, concept or prototype, testing, and handoff documentation
