Position Summary:

This position will produce timely and accurate monthly GAAP financial reporting packages, including budget to actual analysis of the results of the responsible Affiliates. This position will present the monthly actual versus budget analysis to Affiliate senior management, and JHHS management as needed. This position is responsible for keeping current on all technical GAAP accounting literature, documenting GAAP accounting issues in white papers, and implementation of all new required GAAP accounting pronouncements.

This position may be responsible for some Operating and Capital order approvals as well as payment approvals/invoice blocks and other financial transactions for all of IT@JH and some JHM areas. Close coordination with business owners and Finance staff/leadership is vital to this role.

This position will be required to understand the fundamentals of financial reporting, including the complexities involved with preparing accurate GAAP financial statements (Statement of Operations and changes in Net Assets, Balance Sheet, and Statement of Cash Flows). Technical areas can also include consolidation accounting, eliminations, intercompany transactions, purchase accounting, non-controlling interests, contribution accounting, investment and derivative accounting, etc.

Other responsibilities within the IT@JH Finance office will include mentorship and teaching of staff, timely completion and review of monthly account reconciliations, fixed asset accounting, and other projects (e.g. financial analyses requested by directors/affiliates, support for Johns Hopkins Medicine budget presentation, preparation of financial statements for benefit plan audits, supporting tax department preparation of 990, etc.).

This position may manage the procurement queue for IT@JH. Management will include leveraging performance research and reporting to improve the procurement process. It will also include cultivating relationships with the purchasing department, a vital group in the procurement process.

Key responsibilities include proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to deliver value-added solutions and deliverables.
• Develop Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for new strategies, applications, and infrastructure including the creation of business and financial plans for leadership
• Oversee launches of new services, or re-launches of existing services, and monitor financial performance
• Collaborate with project managers, directors, users, and sponsors to identify key components in business/strategy plans including scope, hard and soft benefits, costs, revenue, risks, assumptions, business offsets, implementation, timeline and other deliverables as identifies.
