Introduction to literature analysis is a core component to the skill set development in this course.

Expertise to teach a Clinical Chemistry/Diagnostic Chemistry laboratory is preferred. The broad goal is for students to be exposed to how clinical chemists identify and quantify materials using a variety of using analytical techniques. The assays utilized would be dependent on your expertise, but should be developed to explore the basic principles, procedures, physiological basis, instrumentation, or significance of testing performed in clinical chemistry. Ideas include PCR, Elisa, MIC bacterial assays, or basic laboratory techniques for electrolytes, proteins, carbohydrates, hormones, hemoglobin, and serum enzymes and the correlation of test results with diseases and disorders. Statistical techniques, therapeutic drug monitoring, molecular diagnostics, and reference values could also be covered.

Prerequisite coursework for entrance into the Biomedical Sciences program includes Organic Chemistry 1 and 2.
