Basic Qualifications:
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.

The Talent Acquisition Manager for External Relations (ER) is a newly established role to enable External Relations to expand our capacity to attract top talent. Collaborating with HBS Human Resources and External Relations Business Administration as well as other stakeholders, this person will establish, implement, and execute the department’s recruitment strategies which are centered around cultivating diverse candidate pools for recurring searches as well as hard-to-fill and niche roles.

Job Responsibilities

This role will manage the full recruitment lifecycle on open searches for exempt and non-exempt staff roles within ER.
• Ensure that every open search and our overall recruitment strategy demonstrates a measurable commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and the School’s Affirmative Action goals
• Coordinate position review and posting process – work with hiring managers to draft job descriptions, prepare documentation for position approval, develop timelines and milestones for search process, and lead regular check-ins for managers who are actively recruiting
• Source and conduct outreach efforts to passive candidate from a variety of channels to develop candidate pipelines; track conversion rates of different sourcing activities and recommend adjustments
• Partner with and leverage HBS HR Talent Acquisition on recruitment/sourcing strategies, niche searches, and escalations as needed
• Review applications through our Applicant Tracking System and identify the strongest candidates for review by manager
• Phone screen applicants selected by the hiring manager and be able to distill conversations to key points for the hiring manager’s consideration
• Be the point of contact for all candidate engagement & correspondence. Create a positive candidate experience (for both internal & external candidates) throughout the recruiting process with proactive communication & high touch customer service
• Proactively identify hurdles in candidate attraction and research solutions before communicating them with hiring managers and other stakeholders
• Partner with Director to establish tracking and reporting mechanisms to relay search status of open searches to internal audiences
• Coach and advise hiring managers on interviewing techniques to foster an inclusive and equitable experience for all
• Use Applicant Tracking System, Teams, reference check tools, and other systems to keep timely updates of candidates’ statuses
• Work with ER leadership and HBS HR on offer management and extension
• Manage transition from offer to on-boarded employee in partnership with HBS HR, other cross-functional teams, and ER to ensure smooth and effective process
• Partner with HBS HR Talent Acquisition and serve as the External Relations representative on the Talent Acquisition Center of Practice group, meeting on a regular basis to keep up-to-date on best practices
• Partner with HBS HR to identify opportunities to represent ER as an employer at recruiting fairs
• Be responsible for other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
• Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience

Additional Qualifications and Skills:

In addition to the requirements listed above, we also require:
• 2 additional years of progressive responsibility and demonstrated success in human resources, talent acquisition, and/or talent development is required
• Working knowledge of using applicant tracking systems, Microsoft Office (including Word and Outlook), and systems like Slack, Zoom, or MS Teams is required

• Engage and manage resources through Harvard’s contingent workforce program

• Manage editorial and accessibility vendors focused on improving work quality and efficiency; manage editorial budget
• Manage protagonist permissions/releases, liaise with protagonists, and provide guidance on course production best practices and permissions management to the team
• Identify and work to resolve portfolio problems including process, and stakeholder management. Escalate issues, as needed, to reduce risk to the project
• Develop and manage project timelines; provides regular status updates of various forms to numerous stakeholders throughout HBS Online, HBS, and (as required) external entities
• Engage with faculty, academic support staff and others involved in the course development process as needed
• Set up and runs project status meetings.
• Coordinate Beta course launch through completion of first one to three open enrollment waves of a given program
• Oversee regular team updates to departmental newsletter and course launch events
• The role is also responsible for other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree is required
• 5+ years of relevant experience is required

Additional Qualifications And Skills
• Management experience strongly preferred
• Experience providing project services in a higher education, professional services setting or publishing industry preferred; PMP or similar certification helpful
• Proficiency in project management, estimating, and scheduling
