RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Lead the development of seasonal thematic concepts, color palettes, print and graphic direction, and determine new silhouettes, with the Design team.
• Create brand-right and commercial designs while delivering a strong emotional message that resonates with the customer.
• Synthesize runway and fashion/trend analysis to influence ideation and overall design direction.
• Leverage resources in sourcing new ideas, both internally and externally, and conduct ongoing competitor research/trend analysis.
• Partner with key cross-functional partners throughout the design process including merchants, raw materials, production and sourcing.
• Deliver compelling and articulate presentations of design concepts to influence vision and evolution of the product line.
• Develop sample garments and provide basic fit/body block information.
• Adapt designs based on merchant line plan and incorporate feedback for finalization.
• Lead, inspire and develop design talent.
• Ensure deliverables meet budget commitments, identifying efficiencies without compromising design excellence.

We are looking for a creative development lead to drive the continued growth of Condé Nast Entertainment’s leading digital video and audio business, a primary function in our evolution into a 21st century world class entertainment company. As Director, Creative Development, Glamour and Allure you will work alongside other creative leads to build two of Condé Nast’s most important brands. You will nurture, oversee, and grow a digital video and audio IP portfolio focused on English language content, with ambition for global appeal.

This role is based in New York and reports to the Senior Director, Programming and Development, Glamour and Allure.

The purpose of this role is to build the digital entertainment portfolio for Glamour and Allure to drive audience growth and engagement with a focus on commercial revenue, delivering on Condé Nast’s preeminent portfolio of brands in the forms of:
• Original content for global digital platforms (e.g. O&O, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), with focus on premium, scalable quality
• Syndicated series for local markets and OTT channels around the world
• Video franchises that transcend platforms and markets
• Video support of live cultural events

Primary Responsibilities
• Drive storytelling development and execution, bringing fresh perspective to the slate of content across CNE’s style brands.
• Direct new pilots, bringing a clearly defined vision to the production process.
• Establish and own processes that ensure creative excellence. In partnership with the production team, this includes accountability for the quality of the video execution, including the review, edit, and approval of preliminary and final treatments, outlines, shooting scripts, casting, production schedules, budgets, selects, graphics, music, rough cuts, fine cuts, final narration and final versions of all applicable new programming.
• Collaborate with brand video programming leads to build a balanced cross-platform video and audio pipeline that align with the style brands.
• Own the development process, lead and participate in brainstorming sessions, generate ideas for new pilots and preexisting series, and execute on creating profitable IP.
• Establish visual best practices and look and feel of series and pilots with brand stakeholders.
• Launch new visual editorial standards and properties across brands working with data from the content team and creative group.
• Create storyboards, moodboard, and motion graphic treatments, when appropriate, for new digital and audio series.
• Review and approve all cuts for publication.
• Identify and develop new talent, both internal and external.
• Collaborate with Creative Strategy, translating data and insights into creative decisions across the style slate of shows.

Desired Skills And Qualifications
• 7+ years experience in the digital media space as a professional and capable leader with inclusive style that garners respect and trust across stakeholders and team members
• Established creative sensibility, with soup to nuts experience in concept creation, on-set directing, and execution of digital videos that have driven deep, organic engagement across multiple platforms
• Experience directing video shoots with celebrities
• Expert-level knowledge of YouTube Studio and YouTube best practices
• Extensive experience providing creative evaluation, advice and feedback
• Entrepreneurial, strategic and holistic mindset, eagerness to learn and build, and a reputation as an innovative, adaptable and proactive “doer” with desire to differentiate Condé Nast from the competition
• Knowledge of internet culture and digital video landscape (e.g. Instagram, TikTok, Snap, et.al), the unique elements of each video platform and what makes particular videos successful on those platforms
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines, with proven experience collaborating with a team of creative producers and juggling multiple-projects at once
• Demonstrated aptitude to work closely with both internal and external producers to represent the channel needs
• Strong interpersonal communication skills (written and oral) with an emotionally intelligent communication style
• Successful experience navigating matrixed organizations
• Exhibit and set a culture of professionalism and results-oriented purpose
• Familiarity with the brands and businesses of Condé Nast

Base Salary: $95,000- $125,000
