Director of Strategic Initiatives - McCourt School of Public Policy - Georgetown University

Job Overview

The Director of Strategic Initiatives is both a principal advisor to the Dean on important strategic matters relating to the McCourt School of Public Policy, as well an executive leader for the school’s internal and external relations areas. A member of the school’s senior leadership team, they provide leadership, planning, coordination and oversight in the development of defined core strategic initiatives for the Office of the Dean; and increase the bandwidth and velocity of the Dean, allowing them to handle a wide range of matters of institutional importance on behalf of the Dean.

The Director serves as the Dean’s strategic liaison with university and external constituencies and provides leadership and direction for institutional initiatives and special projects on behalf of the Dean.

They take a broad view of the school to elevate and advocate for its institutional priorities, and to build effective organizational linkages across the school, its constituencies, and the university; and employ strong diplomatic, problem-solving, and collaborative skills to achieve actionable results through others.

Work Interactions

Reporting to the Dean, the Director of Strategic Initiatives routinely interacts with senior level administrators, board members, faculty, public officials, and other stakeholders, and represents the Dean, the School, and its institutional priorities in select internal and external interactions with various constituencies.

Within the School, the Director serves as the point of contact for GU Advancement, ensuring that philanthropic partnerships align and advance the strategic goals of the school.

Qualifications
• Master’s degree or higher from an accredited institution
• At least 7 years of progressively responsible professional experience in related fields preference for 2 of those years in development within educational institution, with specific experience working in or with a school of public policy [note: consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of training and experience related to the duties of the position]
• Great deal of professional for regular exposure to confidential material
• Discretion, tact, sensitivity and integrity fir dealing with internal and external contacts
• A high level of attention to detail
• Ability to be both approachable and discreet

Clinical Research Manager, Division of Infectious Diseases – Georgetown University Medical Center

Job Overview

The Clinical Research Manager provides clinical and research services to clinical trial subjects participating in Infectious Diseases studies, managing and coordinating complex HIV and COVID-19 studies in accordance with established protocols and guidelines. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Monitor and screen patients and administer investigational therapies for all clinical trials
• Employ a high level of clinical skills and make decisions in response to unique clinical situations
• Complete all study related documentation and ensure that standard clinical procedures and protocol regulations are met
• Answer complex questions, functioning as an expert resource for clinical trial patients and study nurses.
• Implement new protocols and ensures that regulatory requirements are met
• Performs functions in accordance with Georgetown University Medical Center’s philosophy, policies, procedures and standards

Work Interactions

Reporting directly to the Division Chief, the Clinical Research Manager interacts internally with Clinical Trial Principal Investigators, ID faculty and staff, and the Clinical Trial Unit research nurses and staff; and externally with the Georgetown Clinical Trial Office, Pharmacy, Clinical Research Center, and Pharma Company representatives.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree
• 3 years of experience in clinical research, and/or public health research
• Experience in research protocols and quality assurance
• Experience in a University Medical setting
• Knowledge of and sensitivity to a myriad of issues related to HIV infection and COVID-19 Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
• Excellent clinical skills and ability to function autonomously
• Ability to collaborate successfully with physicians, health team members, sponsors, patients and family members
• Ability to remain calm and perform effectively in emergency situations
• Ability to communicate effectively, to work under pressure and respond to multiple demands; and sensitivity to the confidential nature of the work
