POSITION SUMMARY
The Janitorial Supervisor supervises, trains, and monitors the work of assigned janitorial staff in accordance with contract specifications and agency quality standards.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Operations
• Perform cleaning tasks in accordance with contract specifications.
• Ensure highest levels of quality are maintained in the completion of assigned work and work is completed within specified time frames.
• Act as a representative of Gateway and interact with customers in a professional and courteous manner.
• Responsible for all equipment and supplies as assigned.
• Transport staff to and from off-site locations.
• Maintain maintenance and recordkeeping for assigned vehicles.
• Participate in training programs for professional growth as scheduled and approved.
• May be required to work alternate shifts upon notice, which may or may not become a regular shift assignment.
Supervisory Responsibilities
• Supervise and assign staff in the completion of janitorial tasks in accordance with contract specifications. Provide training / retraining when needed.
• Evaluate assigned staff in work performance.
• Work with the On-Site Supervisor to ensure adequate coverage during assigned shifts.
Health, Safety, & Compliance
• Maintain all site operations in accordance with specified certification criteria and Health Department regulations. Ensure compliance with OPWDD, OFA, and any other organization or government agency as required
• Provide leadership and positive direction necessary for maintaining a safe work environment as well as hold all subordinates accountable in providing direction necessary for maintaining a safe work environment
• Actively participate in and support employee participation in health and safety practices and accident prevention
• Maintain a work environment in a clean, organized, and safe manner. Conduct daily inspections of work areas to look for unsafe conditions
• Ensure all accidents are reported to supervisor and Human Resources, thoroughly investigated, and properly documented. Investigate near-miss incidents to determine root cause to promote accident prevention.
• Ensure all staff are properly trained on emergency response procedures. Maintain practices to ensure Health and Safety compliance
• Use all required safety devices and personal protective equipment. Train staff on all safe operating procedures and on the use of personal protective equipment
Agency Standards
• Demonstrate positive work attitudes and habits.
• Act as a role model for vocational success for trainees/interns
• Participate in training programs for professional growth as scheduled and approved
• Responsible for understanding and adhering to Gateway Hudson Valley’s Corporate Compliance Policy and Standards of Conduct as well as all applicable program rules, regulations and policies
• Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
• High School Diploma plus 3 years related experience.
Experience:
• Experience supervising janitorial staff or related supervisory experience.

BONA FIDE WORKING CONDITIONS
• Must be able to lift up to 60lbs
• Must be able to stand, walk, stoop and bend
• Must be able to sit or stand for 8 hours per day
REGULATORY CLEARANCES REQUIRED:
• Must have a valid NYS Driver’s License and maintain a driving record which meets the insurable criteria of the Agency’s automobile insurance carrier
