Food and Drug Administration

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The FDA is responsible for protecting public health by ensuring the safety, efficacy, and security of human and veterinary drugs, biological products, and medical devices; and by ensuring the safety of the food supply, cosmetics, and dietary supplements. The FDA also regulates the manufacturing, marketing, and distribution of products that are aimed at treating, diagnosing, curing, or preventing diseases. The FDA website provides the public with information about the role of the FDA and its regulations, as well as links to databases and other resources related to food and drug safety.
