WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
• Design and build features for our AdTech and subscription platforms
• Write, test, debug, and deploy code across a variety of languages and frameworks, including JavaScript/Node.js, React, and Typescript
• Hold a high bar for the quality of the architecture and design of systems
• Contribute to building our next generation of front-end applications for both Inc.com and FastCompany.com digital properties
• Constantly improve front-end app performance - page load times, page weight, network calls, async loading of assets, CDN cache-control, etc.
• Integrate with 3rd party services and APIs to build solutions for paywall, subscriptions, entitlements, SSO, and data reporting, to name a few
• Improve workflows and dev practices for our engineering team, empowering you to make an impact to our engineering culture
• Identify security problems and improve the security aspects of our applications
• Collaborate with Design and Product teams to define optimal solutions and user flows
• Mentor and grow the skills of colleagues through pairing, design reviews, and code reviews

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
• Have 5+ years of professional experience working with modern web frameworks in the media space
• Have 5+ years of hands-on programming experience with HTML/CSS, JSON, JavaScript/Node.js, React, Typescript, and REST APIs
• Experience in Google Ad Manager and related Google solutions (GA, GTM) is required
• Have knowledge of software principles, application architecture, data structures, coding conventions, automated testing frameworks and security best practices
• Obsessive about front-end application performance, and fast page speed techniques for optimal user experience
• Experience with module loaders like Webpack, Parcel, and Browserify
• Have a sound understanding of cloud-based architectures and deployments on Amazon Web Services (AWS), CI/CD and tooling
• Have strong opinions about maintainable software solutions but are also willing to have constructive debates and work towards the best options for the team
• Some experience with CDNs / Fastly in order to optimize edge caching for your applications
• Have a growth mindset and a bias towards action

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
• With guidance from senior photo editors, brainstorm, conceptualize and produce photo shoots for FOB and feature stories

• Procure and treat assets for live Fast Company events and live journalism

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Our ideal candidate will possess the following:
• A bachelor’s degree, with a degree in fine arts or photography-related field preferred
• 2-3 years’+ experience in photo editing, preferably for a fast-paced editorial outlet
• Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop is essential; Illustrator, After Effects as well as familiarity with Word Press is a plus)
• Excellent photo research skills, and knowledge of Creative Commons Licensing and resources
• Strong written and verbal communication skills (must be able to interface with multiple editors, and outside resources independently on time-sensitive stories)
• Excellent time-management skills with an ability to meet deadlines and turn work around quickly
• Creativity, positivity, and collaborative, can-do energy
