The Role

The role of this position is to serve as a Linux and virtual infrastructure system administrator. Primary functions are to design, deploy, and support infrastructure solutions for the enterprise. They will be expected to stay abreast of advances in technologies; assessing, making recommendations, and deploying said technologies. They are expected to be a leader in collaboration efforts across organizations (architecture, development, operational teams, business units, etc.) in solving critical business and technology issues while improving customer experience.

The Main Responsibilities
• Provide day-to-day support/administration of OS (Linux/Unix) and associated infrastructure
• Will provide support directly to internal stakeholders throughout the enterprise to enable and support highly available application solutions
• Perform site reliability engineering functions:
• Assessing standards, practices, technologies, and ecosystems
• Make recommendations for improvements and in support of going forward strategies
• Facilitate implementation tasks (Examples: operational standards, automation, developing/implementing code)
• Develop, document, deploy, and support best practices/procedures, risk assessments, contingency planning, security, and disaster recovery & business continuity planning
• Provide technical support to internal stakeholders through the ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and solve complex technical problems across multiple technical disciplines
• Interact and communicate with various levels of management on projects and initiatives
• Provide leadership in the migration of legacy technologies to current standards
• Function in a fast-paced, multi-tasking, environment
• Other duties as assigned
What We Look For in a Candidate
• Minimum of 6 years of experience with Linux (Red Hat, Ubuntu, etc.) administration
• Minimum of 6 years of experience with Unix (Solaris, HP-UX, etc.) administration preferred
• Minimum of 6 years of experience with server virtualization (Examples: ESXi, VMware, vSphere, vRealize, Hyper-V) preferred
• Minimum of 6 years of experience with container platforms (Examples: Kubernetes, OpenShift, Swarm, etc.), and management systems preferred
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in delivering Information Technology projects to medium/large enterprises
• Minimum of 6 years of experience with storage management (NAS, SAN, etc.) preferred
• Experience with container platforms (Examples: Kubernetes, OpenShift, Swarm, etc.)

We are an independent Solar Operations and Maintenance provider currently servicing more than 20 GW of solar assets worldwide. NovaSource Power Services strives to be the number one O&M provider within its key target markets, and have 30% of its revenue from value-added services, of which engineering will play a key role. This role will report to the Senior SCADA Manager and will be responsible for providing SCADA Engineering expertise to the global fleet.

Currently, the engineering team provides three main functions for the business:
• Continuous SCADA support for all global assets
• Executes value added service projects such as SCADA designs or upgrades
• Builds and maintains critical infrastructure to support and monitor global assets
Responsibilities:
• Respond to daily requests for scada engineering support for the global fleet of power plants. Examples:
• Conducting root cause analysis on scada application issues. Examples include:
• Data/network communication failures
• HMI graphic issues
• Alarming issues
• Application performance issues
• Data anomaly issues
• Grid controller PLC troubleshooting
• Server operating system or virtualization issues
• Conducting preventative maintenance on SCADA systems. Examples include:
• Upgrading or patching application software
• Upgrading or patching server and networking hardware
• Managing credentials or other access controls on scada systems
• Taking backups of application software
• Conducting change requests. Examples include:
• HMI graphic changes
• Alarming updates
• Add or remove data points
• Creating user accounts
• Execute value added service projects. Tasks include:
• Design and build new SCADA configurations from scratch for new SCADA designs
• Create drawings such as block diagrams, data flow diagrams, IP tables, and more.

• Participate in weekly team meetings to review problems, open support requests, and plan value added services.
• Establish relationships with vendors used for onsite work or for materials.
• Procure parts and labor for support issues or value-added services projects.
• 20% travel locally or internationally for site visits, team meetings, or training.

General Qualifications:
• Accomplished user of Microsoft Office 365 suite of tools: Outlook, Excel, Power Point, SharePoint
• Communicate effectively in both verbal and written format in English
• Must be able to prioritize day to day work
• High attention to detail. Minimal mistakes in SCADA application configurations
• Strong analytical and documentation skills
• Microsoft Visio experience preferred
• Basic understanding of solar plant controllers, capacitor banks, and solar tracking systems
• Basic knowledge of approved cyber security practices

SCADA Qualifications:
• Minimum 5 years of SCADA automation design and support experience
• Experience with Ignition and N3uron SCADA software
• Experience with Wonderware ArchestrA and Kepware applications
• Experience executing a minimum of three large SCADA projects from end-to-end (design to commissioning)
• Experience with creating HMI graphics from single lines or P&IDs
