What you will do:

Purpose:

The Director, Institutional Product Managementreports to the Vice President of Product Management, Institutions. The Director, Institutional Product Managementleads a product team to assess market and customer needs, create a product strategy, define the roadmap for the product(s), monitor its development and delivery, and communicate with internal and external stakeholders. This Director and team will focus specifically on building a strategy around simplifying the portfolio and building a digital... first agile portfolio that is able to easily respond to market needs. The Director is expected to be an expert in Agile Software Development practices and will be part of the implementation of those practices within the Product Management team. They must also provide mentorship for internal stakeholders who are maturing in their knowledge of agile practices. The Director will lead their team through the digitization of courseware to promote and ensure a solution selling value proposition for customers. The Director will lead their team through the simplification of the product and platform portfolio to increase agility and find efficiencies in operations.

Responsibilities
• Define and execute the new ELL portfolio strategy of solution selling designing user journeys from first touch through the end of the learning experience; including assessing, teaching, and re-teaching in a digital first, but hybrid solution, supporting both the learners and those that support the learners (teachers, admin, etc.)
• Manage and mentor a team of product managers and associate product managers in the application of product management best practices and to help them realize professional goals and growth
• Develop and continually refine product vision and roadmaps based on strategy and investment priorities, focusing on ELL learners utilizing agile methodologies
• Leverage Pearson’s market research, competitive intelligence, and user experience research capabilities to reflect the voice of the customer in all product roadmaps

BACKGROUND:

OBU EUCAN is a key contributor to the continued and future growth of our Oncology business at AstraZeneca. We seek dedicated commercial leadership for our franchises across functions and markets, maximizing the regional potential of our leading Oncology portfolio, delivering commercial excellence in close collaboration with a wide variety of in- and external partners.

AZ has been a pioneer in the use of companion diagnostics to support use of precision medicines in oncology. We continue to invest in precision medicine strategies with over thirty development projects that will deliver potential launches in the next 5 years using novel biomarker strategies as a central part of their development plan.

THE ROLE:

The Oncology Diagnostic Lead is responsible for the leadership of the AstraZeneca Oncology Diagnostic team in the country. This role is accountable for developing and implementing the Oncology Diagnostic strategy, delivering diagnostic leadership with external customers and internal cross-functional teams, providing strong scientific expertise to ensure adequate support of AstraZeneca Spain Oncology portfolio, and framing and deploying partnerships with testing labs and test manufacturers in key disease areas including lung cancer, breast cancer, gynaecology, genitourinary, and gastrointestinal cancers.

As a permanent member of the Oncology Leadership Team (OLT), a member of the cross-functional Leaderships Teams, and the OBU diagnostic leadership team, the role will collaborate to set the integrated strategic direction of AZ Spain Oncology Business Unit and Diagnostic teams, aligning resources to customers and business priorities, and will provide leadership and direction to execute Oncology business and scientific objectives. The Oncology Diagnostic Director reports directly to the Spain Head of Oncology.

YOUR MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES AND TASKS:

Leadership, Team Management and People Development
• Lead the AZ national Oncology Diagnostic team through scientific expertise to create and deliver the Diagnostic Oncology Plan for Spain addressing; development of skills, scientific learning and training programs for the Diagnostic team and cross-functional teams
• Support and contribute actively to impact the actions of the Oncology Business Unit in Spain as a core member of the national Oncology Leadership Team (OLT). With an entrepreneurial spirit, develop synergies among cross-functional teams: marketing, sales, market access, regulatory affairs, scientific research, compliance, training, patient affairs to achieve the goals of the Oncology Leadership Team (OLT)
• Lead and empower the Oncology Diagnostic team, including recruitment and retention of high-quality staff through talent management and succession planning, setting clear team and individual expectations to drive performance and ensure engagement, providing coaching and feedback to team members, managing performance, foster continuous scientific leadership through training, and providing opportunities for growth and development

Strategic & Operational Excellence
• Define Diagnostic objectives and clear goals, coordinate and prioritize the Diagnostic activities including both pipeline and commercialized products across tests/biomarkers, commercial franchises, medical therapeutical areas, and functions, in order to ensure the optimal treatment of each patient throughout their cancer journey (no patient left behind)
• Define, manage and prioritize the Diagnostic budget and the allocation of resources to ensure operational excellence, in close collaboration with the Head of Oncology Spain.
• As a member of AstraZeneca national Oncology Leadership Team, participate in the development forward-thinking Corporate and Functional strategic/operational plans, and take leadership of the development and delivery of aligned plans
• As a member of AstraZeneca extended Global Diagnostic Leadership Team you share in-market insights, as well as innovative projects and initiatives to influence and shape regional and global strategies

Cross-functional activities
• Ensure scientific leadership and operational excellence, and build an image of AstraZeneca as leader in Oncology by developing innovative and differentiating collaborations with key external stakeholders that improve testing practices in labs and overall test result quality, make testing accessible and available, generate RWE and data (around biomarker prevalence, diagnostic and testing), foster the development of precision medicine in oncology including with action with governmental affairs.
• Collaborate and coordinate Diagnostic-related activities (incl.training) with national cross-functional teams to ensure that the Diagnostic strategy is well integrated and executed in Brand Strategic Plans, and support their efforts in demonstrating the scientific, clinical and medico-economic value of the therapy/diagnostic couples in each indication
• Actively contribute to the regional EUCAN Diagnostic projects and partnerships
• Develop and ensure high quality relationships with key testing experts, professional societies, co-operative groups, research institutions, potential partners in the private sector (including start-ups, tech companies, test manufacturers), etc. related to our key portfolio of biomarkers

Compliance
• Responsible for internal and external interactions of the team, regularly evaluating business/compliance risks to enable teams to operate accordingly
• Ensure own and team’s compliance with AstraZeneca’s Code of Conduct and company policies and procedures relating to people, finance, technology, security and Safety, Health and Environment.

YOUR EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (Essential)
• Business or Science Master and/or Ph.D and/or PharmD degree (or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience)
• At least 10 years of effective field or management experience in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably including at least 5 years in oncology
• Deep expertise in precision medicine and diagnostics, including testing pathway understanding and optimization
• Solid grasp of ongoing paradigm changes and future trends in healthcare in general and precision medicine in particular
• Strong understanding of key commercialization and marketing skill sets
• Interest and basic expertise in data generation, data exploitation techniques and AI-based innovations relevant to diagnostic
• Proven experience and knowledge of external partners and customers including patients, prescribers, payors, providers and in/out license partners
• Demonstrated track record of leadership success and experience in managing a high performing team
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams including commercial, marketing, medical, public affairs, health outcomes and access team, with good examples of effectiveness and impact
