• Base pay for permanent positions is $1544.77/biweekly ($40,164/annually) plus full benefits and PERA retirement. There are 26 biweekly pay periods in a year. Upon successful completion of the probationary period, you may be eligible for an increase in base pay of up to 10%. Some locations are also eligible for an additional monthly housing stipend. In addition, some positions are eligible for a snow bonus of up to $2000.

• Our flexible Temporary positions start at $23/hour

We also occasionally offer entry-level Highway Maintenance Trainee and Apprentice positions, requiring little to no experience, and focused on learning about CDOT's maintenance operations while pursuing your CDL Class A or B.

All Highway Maintenance positions are eligible for 1.5 X overtime pay, shift differential and on call pay.

Duties May Include:

• Drive snow plows, trucks or tractors

• Make minor adjustments and repairs to equipment

• Inspect, clean, repair roads, bridges, tunnels, other structures

• Remove litter, hazardous objects, debris from roadways

• Install/repair guardrails, road shoulders, highway lighting

• Set out signs and cones for "traffic control safe zones"

• Assist in signing and striping highways

• Respond to emergencies 24 hours per day/7 days per week

The Colorado Department of Transportation, Office of Communications is seeking a motivated and responsible college student or recent graduate pursuing a career in communications and public relations. Our intern will gain experience in a wide range of communications disciplines, including writing, social media, internal communications and public relations.

Typical intern assignments include writing, coordinating employee communications and events, supporting internal communications, and producing multimedia content. Description of Job
The Staff Bridge department at the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is seeking college students or recent graduates who are pursuing a career in Civil Engineering, Data Sciences, Computer Science, or similar. Staff Bridge is transitioning to the System for Inspection and Management of Structural Assets (SIMSA). SIMSA is leveraging technology to automate, notify, and visualize inspection and asset management data. It will be used across Colorado by CDOT, Consultants, and Local Agency owners. It will help those infrastructure owners do their job of inspecting and managing their assets. Up to four interns will be hired. Training will be provided for all responsibilities; however, any prior experience relating to the duties and responsibilities should be highlighted in the application.

Major duties and responsibilities, include but are not limited to:
• Reviewing files or data to evaluate, identify discrepancies, perform statistical analysis, and/or track progress.
• Performing queries and updates on data using SQL Server Management Studio such as inspection data, project data, and vertical clearance data.
• Performing bridge inspections or fabrication inspections with assistance from bridge inspectors or fabrication inspectors.
• Identifying and classifying work performed on structures by reviewing structural plan sets.
• Providing technical assistance to design and construction units as needed.
• Recording vertical clearance on bridges throughout the state as schedule, weather, and other duties allow.
• Field work with inspectors and technicians at fabrication sites including documentation with reports and completion of forms.
• Other duties as assigned by the Staff Bridge Unit Leaders or their designees.
Work Environment:
• Primarily 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM work hours, Monday through Friday in the HQ/Region 1 office building located at 2829 W. Howard Place, Denver.
• The typical work week will be 40 hours a week in the summer months (May through August) with an option to continue part-time through December or January if the intern is local. An hour orientation is planned to start paperwork early in May with full-time employment and start date coordinating with any classes and finals that need to be completed.
• Occasional travel may be required during work hours to assigned locations to collect data.
• Potential overnight travel may be required for inspection trips and would be no longer than two nights once or twice during the summer.
• Occasionally drives CDOT vehicles to record vertical clearance on bridges throughout the state as schedule, weather, and other duties allow.
