Field Producer, CNBC
Responsibilities:
The Field Producer brainstorms and pitches ideas, researches topics and works closely with reporter(s) to advance stories, break news and produce segments both in studio and in the field.
What you'll do:
• Working both independently and with reporters/anchors to produce original business news content, primarily for broadcast and additionally for digital and social.
• Production responsibilities may include research, conducting interviews, writing and editing, field producing and overseeing editing.
• Pitching story ideas and working on assigned stories developed by the editorial planning team.
• Establishing and maintaining relationships with, and being knowledgeable of and current on companies in the universe of coverage.
• Communicating clearly with reporter and field production crews to determine best coverage plan and live remote locations.
• Maintaining all video/digital records, feed necessary and relevant video to bureau/headquarters, communicate to editors and/or desk producers how video should be cut/taken to air.
• Communicating with CNBC News desk editors on available live times, understanding and owning all live hit requests, disseminating hit times to reporter and team on the ground.

Job Description
What you’ll do:
• Help improve and sustain CNBC’s coverage of the technology industry. This is a versatile player-coach type of role, requiring writing on some newsworthy tech areas as well as edit on busy news days.
• Report and write news, analysis, and features focused on cybersecurity, business software, artificial intelligence, programming, and other tech fields. Beat could include companies such as Atlassian, CrowdStrike, Cisco, Databricks, Datadog, IBM, OpenAI, Oracle, Palantir, Palo Alto Networks, Snowflake, and Workday, and will evolve over time.
• Develop and tailor cybersecurity coverage for the CNBC audience, focusing on material real-world effects and human-driven features rather than “hack of the week.”
• Help edit news stories on a wide variety of technology business subjects, particularly in the mornings.
• Help coordinate news coverage across a wide variety of teams within CNBC Digital and across the organization, including TV and digital video.

Qualifications
What you’ll bring:
• At least 5 years’ experience writing and reporting on technology for a business or tech publication.
• Experience editing technology stories for a business or tech publication.
• Sufficient technical understanding to pitch and report informed stories about cybersecurity, enterprise software, AI, and related subjects.
• Broad knowledge of the technology industry in general, including the people, companies, and the tech itself.
• Familiarity with the basics of business and finance – how to read SEC filings, earnings reports, and so on.
• Strong writing skills.
• High energy with the ability to remain calm under deadline pressure.
You’ll stand out with:
• Demonstrated ability to build sources and break news.
• Clips of strongly reported stories on cybersecurity, business software, AI, and related subjects.
• Basic familiarity with programming and/or information technology terms and processes. Hands-on experience even better!
