About the Team:

At Byrdie, our mission is simple: to celebrate individuality and empower our readers to find confidence, community, and joy through beauty and style. Our hair, our facial features, our bodies: They can reflect culture... sexuality, race, even politics. We believe when it comes to our beauty coverage—from how beauty products are chosen for review to why we write the things we do—the more transparency, the better. That’s why we feel it’s important to share exactly how we go about doing what we do: from how we create our content to who’s behind it and more.

About the Role:

As an intern at Byrdie you will have the opportunity to learn about the digital media business and the beauty & style industry by working with editors on writing, editing, building, and researching imagery for stories, having your own bylines, attending events, working with publicists and helping with content update projects. This role reports to Byrdie’s associate editorial director.

About You:
• A passion for beauty is a must—while this role will work across our beauty and style verticals, this role skews heavily towards beauty

• Writing experience, preferably within beauty & style space
• Outstanding organizational skills and innate ability to pay attention to detail, keep track of deadlines, and balance multiple projects and assignments
• Fast learner and ability to develop expertise in various workflow tools, as well as collaborate with remote and contract editors and staff team members
• Experience with content management systems a plus
