Events
• Plan and execute private events including but not limited to wedding ceremonies, wedding receptions, corporate parties, cocktail parties.
• Comprehensive event coordination from inquiry to breakdown: this includes answering inquiries and scheduling client tours, booking events, and day- of coordination including set-up and breakdown.
• Collaborate with the Marketing and Events Department to plan and execute select internal fundraising events. This includes event set-up and break-down of tables, chairs, displays etc...
• Communicate with and establish relationships with clients, caterers, vendors, sponsors, etc. and respond in a timely manner.
• Serve as an event manager at designated internal fundraising and private events.

Team Collaborations
• Work collaboratively with the Event Manager, and other departments to ensure internal fundraising events are effectively planned and executed.
• Work collaboratively with the Marketing and Events team to assist in creating marketing materials that include, but are not limited to, social media posts, blog posts, email blasts, brochures, etc... for special events.
• Positively serve as a representative of the Botanical Gardens to all clients, guests, vendors, government officials and any/all external sources

Education, Skills, Qualifications: 

Education and Experience

Associates Degree or relevant experience in the hospitality or related field and at least one-year of experience in event planning or event management. Non-profit experience preferred.

Skills and Characteristics
• The ability to take initiative, possess strong organizational skills, have a positive attitude and enthusiasm for the job and the organization.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to take charge of situations, as well as the ability to collaborate creatively to solve problems.
• The ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strict attention to detail.
• Strong computer skills, including all Social Media platforms, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, are required.
• Self-motivated, trustworthy, reliable, and team-oriented.
• A passion for mission-driven organizations and healthy professional relationships with co-workers and volunteers.
• The ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. for distances of up to 100 feet.
• Practice respect, fair treatment, and acceptance of people of all identities, beliefs, and viewpoints in all interpersonal interactions. 
• Demonstrate initiative in learning about and implementing skills related to diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility.  
• This position it will require working nights, weekends and some holidays.
