Position Overview

The Nonprofit Engagement Manager is responsible for organizing and overseeing the execution of the nonprofit capacity building and convenings work of the Foundation. The Manager works to create and execute a robust and relevant capacity building program for BCF’s nonprofit partners. They will also create and manage convenings that will assist in creating opportunities for our partners to build peer networks, expand donor engagement, and relationships with Funders.

This is a full-time exempt position, and reports to the Vice President (VP) of Programs. It is located in Brooklyn, NY and will occasionally require early morning, evening, and weekend work. You will be required to travel within NYC via public transportation.

Responsibilities:

Capacity Building

· Implement the Foundation’s capacity building strategy with leadership input

· Create and manage application process for capacity building participants

· Recruit and liaise with nonprofits to utilize our nonprofit fundraising platform

· Coordinate #BrooklynGives activities

· Analyze grantee data and other nonprofit feedback loops to identify support needed

· Serve as BCF liaison to NYC Capacity Building Collaborative

· Conduct research to identify capacity building trends in nonprofit and philanthropy fields

Convenings

· Implement and facilitate quarterly regional nonprofit convenings and quarterly peer convenings

· Implement and oversee grantee-specific convenings with programs team, including the procurement of any technical assistance providers needed

Consultant Management

· Oversee open RFP process for finding consultants

· Coordinate consultant contract execution, including payment schedule

· Manage consultants’ progress in relation to contracts and workplan timelines

Internal Collaboration

· Collaborate with the Program Associate to ensure proper tracking of registration and attendance, and the management of materials

· Collaborate with Operations on procuring food, technology, and materials needed

· Collaborate with Program Officers to identify capacity building support recommendations for grantee partners

· Collaborate with BCF staff on communicating and reporting on capacity building work

· Collaborate with Communications team to promote events.

· Strong interpersonal communication skills: especially the ability to listen well, establish and maintain professional relationships, and exercise effective and inclusive working relationships in cross-cultural and multi-cultural settings.

· Strong analytical and communication skills: using sound judgment, able to quickly gather, synthesize and summarize information in a clear and jargon-free manner in written and oral communications. Bilingualism or multilingualism is a plus.

· Strong planning, administrative, and organizational skills: ability to manage multiple projects and timetables, meet deadlines, and work independently

· Strong facilitation skills.

· Intellectual curiosity and learning orientation: commitment to continuously learning and growing, ability to approach the work with humility and acknowledge/work to neutralize effect of power dynamics

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree with at least 3-5 years of work experience in nonprofit, grants, and/or events.

· Deep commitment to racial equity and justice, especially as it applies to Brooklyn communities.

· Excellent project management and written and verbal communication skills

· Ability to work in a high-performance environment, with tight deadlines and changing priorities

· Ability to design, implement, and monitor effective workflow processes and procedures

· Solid knowledge of project management software (preferably knowledge of Salesforce and TaskRay)

· Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and cloud-based platforms and tools.
