Berklee's Music Education offerings are designed to empower students to create their future in music education by learning cutting-edge pedagogical practices, exploring new technologies and contemporary perspectives, and teaching while they learn. This is a 9-month position (fall/spring semesters) with opportunity for teaching during the summer semester. Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience.

Reporting to and under the supervision of the Chair of Music Education, the ideal candidate will have content expertise in one or more areas of music education pedagogy and practice, with an emphasis on making music education relevant and responsive to the students of today. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in pedagogical practices that engage students in a wide range of settings, including seminars and classes, supervising independent student projects and Master's theses, and student advising sessions. They will be a student centered, collaborative educator-scholar-leader-artist who is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of music educators.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in a particular aspect of contemporary music education, which could include (but is not limited to) hip hop music education, modern band, bluegrass or other American Roots musics, culturally responsive music teaching, teaching popular music, or teaching vernacular music of the Latinx, Asian, Indigenous, and/or African Diaspora in music education.
• Teach foundational undergraduate and graduate music education courses, which could include Keyboard Class for Music Education, Foundations of Music Education, and Multicultural Music Education.
• Develop and teach at least one new graduate Special Topics course
• Supervise student teachers (with the possibility of coordinating student teacher placements)
• Supervise graduate student independent projects, including Master's theses and Research/Teaching Projects (serving as a graduate advisor and committee member)
• Prepare syllabi for all assigned courses
• Attend Department meetings and contribute to the faculty community of Music Education, the Professional Education Division, and Berklee
• Engage in professional development to maintain and continually advance teaching skills
• Engage in service to the profession
• Attend College-wide events (e.g., Opening Day) and follow all other guidelines per the Faculty Contract Agreement
• Other duties as assigned

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Supervise on campus work study employees when coordinator isn't present.
• Assist with managing online studio scheduling web interface.
• Assist with maintaining 1500 AT student accounts on a daily basis; keep student project information and scheduling criteria constantly updated and disseminated to the students which includes online project and practice time scheduling.
• Assist Associate Director with creating and managing the implementation of all divisional booking procedures and policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Prospect and Volunteer Management/Engagement (45%)
• Support face-to-face engagement of leadership gift officers with donors, including, but not limited to board meetings, campaign events, and other donor-related events;
• Compose leadership giving-related communications;
• Create and finalizes gift agreements in collaboration with major gifts officers;
• Strategize for prospect meetings by researching and preparing prospect briefs;
• Track the progress of gift proposals and prospect portfolio activities in Raiser's Edge NXT;
• Coordinate and manage logistics related to the engagement of the Executive Director's Advisory Council and Leadership Circle, as well as the complimentary ticket program at BCB.

Event Management (10%)
• Collaborate with IA staff to manage the logistics of on- and off- campus events aimed at cultivating prospective and current donors. Logistics include but are not limited to maintaining the guest list, creating communications and invitations, tracking RSVPs, designing the event agenda/infrastructure, and staffing events as needed;
• Serve as project manager for the Spring Soirée, BCB's annual fundraising event; and
• Manage post-event data entry.

Gift Opportunity Development and Proposals (25%)
• Develop and updates philanthropic gift opportunities;
• Partner with leadership gift officers to prepare and finalize gift proposals;
• Provide ideas, input, and support to initiatives, decisions, and communications with donor relations and leadership gift stewardship implications; and
• Disseminate information on philanthropic initiatives to the broader Advancement team and campus partners.

Database Management and Reporting (15%)
• Enter and monitors donor contact activities in advancement systems and shares/collaborates with relevant partners; and
• Prepare and deliver workflow updates in leadership giving committee meetings.

Other Projects As Assigned (5%)

Knowledge and Skills Required:
• Bachelor's degree required;
• 3-5 years of experience, with nonprofit and higher education environment preferred;
• Demonstrated experience in fundraising environment with the ability to develop, execute, and manage strategic efforts with donors;
• Strong written and oral communication skills;
• Keen attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects at once in a fast-paced environment;
• Excellent interpersonal skills;
• Familiarity with office and information systems, such as Raiser's Edge;
