Where is Astrobackyard located?
I live in Niagara, Ontario with my wife Ashley, and Labrador Retriever/Hound mix, Rudy. My YouTube Channel was launched in 2015, and since then I have contributed to the amateur astronomy and astrophotography community in many ways.
What telescope does Astrobackyard use?
My primary instrument for astrophotography is an 80mm Apochromatic Triplet Refractor. This is a high-quality wide-field instrument. It produces sharp, high-contrast images due to the air-spaced triplet optical design, and low dispersion ED glass that virtually eliminates chromatic aberration.
How do you become an Astrophotographer?
To be an astrophotographer, a solid background in science, computer science or engineering will stand you in good stead. Competition is fierce, and organisations like NASA or other astronomical research organisations will expect a strong academic pedigree.
What was the first Astrophoto?
The first known attempt at astronomical photography was by Louis Jacques Mandé Daguerre, inventor of the daguerreotype process which bears his name, who attempted in 1839 to photograph the Moon. Tracking errors in guiding the telescope during the long exposure meant the photograph came out as an indistinct fuzzy spot.
