Role & Responsibilities:

Interior Architectural Designers are responsible for drafting 3D models, crafting design presentations, and ensuring that design intent & client needs are met throughout the life of the project. This role works directly with our Directors and Project Leader on interior architectural tasks.

The typical day-to-day responsibilities for our Interior Architectural Designers include:
• Drafting 3D models via ArchiCAD & Twinmotion
• Crafting presentation slides via Illustrator & Photoshop
• Sourcing reference images for theme & material presentations
• Sourcing, organizing, & photographing physical material samples for client and studio library
• Creating, managing, and updating project database
• Effectively working on multiple projects at once

Requirements:
• 2+ years of experience in a role as Interior Architectural Designer (or similar)
• 2+ years spent in wood framed residential construction
• 2+ years of experience working in ArchiCAD full time
• Experience working in Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator
• Strong ability to communicate effectively and respectfully
• Ability to work from our Long Island City studio 3 days/wk (minimum)
• Must be legally authorized to work in the US

Highly Desired:
• Valid Driver’s License
• Strong previous relationships with vendors, trades and consultants
• Strong Eye for Photography
• Understanding Construction Documents

Employment Details:
• This is a Full-Time position (40 hrs/wk)
• Hybrid remote/in-person environment with 3 days/wk in-studio
• Typical working hours are 9:00am - 6:00pm, Mon - Fri
• Salary Range between $55k - $75k

Role

Working closely under the Project Director, 3D, the Junior Architectural Designer is responsible for realizing exhibitions and installations from concept to production, including construction administration, in collaboration with clients, project management, and other designers at Standard Issue. This includes producing presentation materials, renderings, and detailed drawings as needed from preliminary space planning and budgeting exercises through concept, schematic, and design development phases. In addition to designing exhibitions, this role will be responsible for designing a range of spatial projects as assigned by the Project Director, 3D. ​​A successful candidate will be a collegial and collaborative problem solver who can exercise a wide range of creative strategies.

A successful candidate will be able to effectively communicate with external consultants, particularly fabricators and vendors, in order to realize needs of display and spatial experience. They should have experience creating design documents, familiarity with construction bid packages, custom detailing, and possess the technical and rendering skills (AutoCAD, V-Ray, Rhino, and Photoshop) to develop, present, and test design ideas visually.

Successful candidates will have one to three years of experience in architectural design, exhibition design, or architecture.

B.Arch. or M.Arch. required.

Responsibilities
• Support Project Director, 3D across projects to enhance design and realize exhibitions and spatial designs
• Architectural design from research and concept through execution/production supervision
• Prepare design document drawings (floor plans, sections, elevations, and detail drawings), for client reviews, fabrication, and/or construction bid documents
• Build 3d models and produce visualizations for design and presentation purposes
• Coordinate fabrication with Project Manager
• Possess a high level of organization and file management
• Other duties as assigned

Benefits Details

This position is full-time 37.5 hrs/week and includes access to a full slate of benefits (PTO, sick days, health/dental/vision insurance, 401(k) 4% salary match after 1 year of employment, commuter benefits, summer Fridays).

We currently work on a hybrid in-office/off-site arrangement with employees, however this role would require being onsite at least three days of the work week.

Salary Details

The salary for this position is approximately $65,000-$75,000 per annum, depending on experience.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree or higher in architecture, architectural engineering, or related field
• Relevant work, internship and/or research experience with existing buildings
• Effective technical, graphical, written, and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
