What you will be doing:

Strategy — Oversee and steward all visitor experience strategies for Humane Education, Animal Behavior and Training and Adoption programs. Partner across all AHS programs to guide visitor experience strategies. Design strategy and support execution of action plans and processes. Understand and commit to the requirement of excellence, continuous improvement, and department and organizational goals. Implement regular assessment of the visitor experience to develop data-driven plans for increasing visitation, revenue, and visitor satisfaction and to drive continuous program refinement and improvement.

Business Planning & Revenue — Plan and oversee budgets for programs of responsibility and manage resources to ensure a revenue generating annual budget. Build business cases as needed for infrastructure and resources. Evolve department budgets on an ongoing basis by identifying cost-reducing opportunities for both visitor experience and revenue generation. Develop business plans for expanding current programs and introducing new programs in collaboration with External Relations, inclusive of staffing plans, P&L outlines, and budget forecasting.

Communication — Listen, pay attention, and be a responsible steward of information. Distill and convey information in a clear, complete, and timely manner in alignment with organizational messaging.

Leadership — Lead visitor-facing teams in managing efficient operations that deliver high visitor engagement, satisfaction, and retention. Provide support to the team in achieving their goals and objectives through ongoing performance management. Act as a partner in collaboration across teams and departments. Advance the mission of the organization by supporting the success of policies, procedures, and practices in departments throughout the organization. Help inform organizational priorities and strategies.

Decision Making — Partner with and advise organizational leadership on trends and best practices related to animal training, humane education, adoption services, and overall strategic community engagement direction.

Relationship Building —Make meaningful contact with community leaders and organizations to advance programs, develop collaborative approaches and foster mutually beneficial relationships.

Culture — Foster an open and inclusive work environment by modeling AHS's behaviors and values, consistent with the vision and mission of the organization. Champion a culture of safety and promote meaningful volunteer engagement.

What we are looking for:

Schedule — Availability to work during operational hours. Primarily Monday - Friday business hours with occasional evening and weekend shifts.

Location — This is a hybrid role amounting to around 3x/week in the office, mostly at our Golden Valley, MN location.

Experience — A minimum 5 years of leadership experience in comprehensive visitor experience or direct-to-consumer businesses. Experience and proven track record of success in delivering quantifiable success and using data informed decisions to support larger institutional goals.

Business Acumen — Possess a strong revenue and growth orientation. Ability to perform short-, mid-, and long-term planning to achieve established individual, departmental, and institutional goals.

Customer Service — A customer-centric approach to audience and revenue growth that utilizes data to inform strategy and decision making.

Adaptability — Ability to problem solve and work in a professional and positive manner with high attention to detail in a variety of situations.

Communication — Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, must have ability to work as a member of the team and partner collaboratively with internal departments and external vendors and partners.

Physical & Emotional Capabilities — Must be able to handle the physical and emotional aspect of work in an animal shelter environment, including the use of euthanasia. Must have a high level of resiliency.

Job Purpose: You are a focused, independently motivated, and communicative team member who provides a high level of humane and compassionate care to shelter animals. You ensure that all animals have a safe and clean living environment, drinking water, and food per feeding instructions.

Schedule: Full-time; 40 hours/week (5 8-hour shifts)
• Saturday & Sunday availability REQUIRED
• Saturday/Sunday/Monday shifts: between the hours of 7a - 6p

What you will be doing:

Animal Care — Perform daily cleaning and sanitization of cages, kennels, and animal areas per shelter protocols. Prepare and distribute food for animals in accordance with established procedures. Observe animals’ appearance and activity for any behavioral changes or health concerns, reporting any information back to appropriate teams.

Process – Complete accurate data entry into the computer system.

Support — Assist with animal restraint for transportation, medical procedures, collection of feces or urine, and euthanasia as required. Move animals throughout the shelter as needed.

Communication — Listen, pay attention, and be a responsible steward of information. Gather and convey information in a clear, complete, and timely manner. Be receptive to, and able to provide feedback in a professional manner.

What we are looking for:

Schedule — Regular, predictable attendance, punctuality, and availability to work during operational hours with the expectation to work varied hours including evening and weekend shifts.

Experience —Animal Experience Preferred.

Adaptability — Ability to work in a professional and positive manner with high attention to detail in a variety of situations and the willingness to assist at other sites.

Should be comfortable with handling a variety of animals with medical and behavioral needs.
