Summary/Objective

The Business Assistant coordinates the day-to-day business functions of the department including purchases, expense reports, record keeping, reconciling corporate credit cards, and work-study payroll. The Assistant helps in maintaining ledger accounts for all revenue and expenses related to the Athletic Department and Sports Center and the auxiliary enterprises generated from both to provide an accurate accounting of all money. This position helps prepare athletic grant-in-aids for the Athletic scholarship program, monitors the Athletic book distribution and collection for full and partial scholarship students, and tracks student account balances to make sure awards are administered correctly. Coordinate team travel arrangements for all varsity sports and coaching recruiting trips. The incumbent updates the department Business and Travel Guide, and also assists and provides administrative support for the department.

Essential Functions
• Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the business office including processing expense reports, processing corporate credit card transactions, purchasing, and all record keeping. Assist in maintaining ledger accounts for all revenue and expenses related to the Athletic Department and Sports Center and the auxiliary enterprises generated from both to provide an accurate accounting of all money: data entry, account reconciliation, the preparation of forms, requisitions, bookkeeping, etc. Manage and update the department Business and Travel Guide.
• Coordinate the administrative aspects of the athletic scholarship program to ensure that the program runs smoothly. Assist in the preparation of athletic grant-in-aids for the Athletic scholarship program and handles the distribution and collection of books for students on scholarship. Gather grant-in-aid information (letters, signatures, and agreements) for packets to send to possible recruits. Track student account balances to make sure awards are administered correctly.
• Provide general administrative support within the Department of Athletics to assist the staff in better performing their duties. Order and maintain office supplies and equipment.
• Coordinate and supervise work study students and part-time employees of the Department to ensure that they are working to support the office.
• Coordinate team travel arrangements for all varsity sports and coaching recruiting trips. Collect and file team travel logs. Develop and monitor team travel budgets. Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility
• This position reports directly to the Assistant AD, Business Operations.
• This position supervises the administrative student workers and part-time staff.
• The Business Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support in the Department of Athletics.
• This position supervises up to 7 work study students directly and up to 7 work study students indirectly.
• This position assists in monitoring approximately 78 full scholarships distributed to 175-200 student athletes.

Summary/Objective

The EdD Program Coordinator is the principal point of contact for current students within the online EdD Program Education Policy and Leadership doctoral program, offered in the School of Education (SOE).

The EdD Program Coordinator will be expected to do the following:

Support planning and coordination of the EdD program and its activities.

Ensure implementation of EdD policies and practices.

Manage communications through media relations, social media, etc.

Help build positive relations within the team and external parties.

Schedule and organize meetings/events and maintain agendas.

Ensure technology is used correctly for all operations (video conferencing, presentations, etc.).

Keep updated records and create reports or proposals for program development.

Support growth and program development.

Essential Functions

Student Programming: Advise and assist students in academic affairs, including registration, academic program planning, residencies, dissertation of practice requirements, real world experiences, change in status, academic support needs, questions regarding changes, degree audits, questions about finances, and graduation. This requires an in-depth understanding of the program goals, outcomes, schedule of courses, and requirements. Work with Program Director to manage programs of study and authorize registration approval each semester. Support the design of cohort building and culture building between staff and faculty, through the interview process, residencies, and real-world learning projects.

Course Scheduling, Production & Management: Document annual programs of study for the EdD program, including the number of students planning to enroll in each course each semester and assist with the development of the SOE schedule based on these enrollment needs. This requires a knowledge of the schedules of courses, requirements, and progression of enrollment procedures.

Application Administration: Receive and process doctoral graduate applications and communicate with the Program Director and Assistant Director about the status of students in each phase of the application process, including prospective, incomplete and complete applications for application review. Coordinate and support the interview process for doctoral candidates.

Recruiting and Marketing: Market SOE programs to relevant audiences, in collaboration with Program Director, Assistant Director, Recruitment and Onboarding Coordinator, SOE leadership. Identify markets for recruitment of students and maintain relationships with those organizations, institutions, and outlets.

Activities and Events: Coordinate and facilitate all SOE student service functions including, but not limited to, open houses (on-campus and virtual), interview day, graduate acceptance day, program orientations, events for current students, alumni events and other program events.

Reporting and Administration: Provide data for reports on SOE students to internal offices and the College as required, under the Direction of the Dean, Assistant Dean, and Program Director.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position supports students from prospective status through post-graduation to support student success and enhance program quality.

This position maintains an in-depth knowledge of and is able to communicate with all constituents about the EdD program.

The EdD Program Coordinator reports to the EdD Executive Director, who provides coaching, support, and management with input from the Assistant Dean for Academic Administration.

The EdD Program Coordinator collaborates and facilitates communication between the EdD Program Director, Assistant Director, the faculty within the EdD program, Graduate Assistants, and students enrolled in the program.

Additionally, she/he/they collaborates with university offices, including the Office of Financial Aid, the University Registrar and Graduate Student offices to provide student support services.

For online programs, the EdD Program Coordinator works with the third party vendor for online programs (e.g., Noodle Partners).

Work Environment

Contributory member of the School of Education, which has 500 students currently enrolled/14 full-time faculty, 80 adjunct faculty and clinical supervisors/8 programs.

This position facilitates the completion of forms from student entrance to graduation for the Doctorate of Education in Education Policy and Leadership .

Summary/Objective

Reporters in WAMU’s newsroom help carry out our regional news initiatives across broadcast and digital platforms. In consultation with newsroom editors, reporters develop sources and shape their assigned beats. Coverage will include breaking news, day turn stories, explainers, two-ways, features and other enterprise work for both audio and the web.

The position requires curiosity, motivation, and a deep professional interest in local news. The Reporter should have strong editorial judgment and the ability to write quickly, clearly, and with a distinctive and appealing style. In addition to beat coverage, all reporters maintain regular breaking news shifts.

This reporter focuses on D.C. education writ large – including DCPS, charter schools and higher education. They are our go-to reporter for K-12 schools news in D.C., ranging from breaking updates to enterprise and feature work. They also cover trends and stories of major significance from the region's higher education institutions. While this reporter focus on D.C., they may also occasionally cover regional stories, coordinating with the Northern Virginia and Prince George’s and Montgomery Counties reporters.

Essential Functions
• Report and write news stories online and on air: Evaluate leads, monitor major news developments, and contribute story ideas, or receive assignments from an editor. Determine a web and/or broadcast story's emphasis, length, and format and organize material accordingly. Report both at a desk and in the field; Collaborate with other reporters, as needed. Write multiple web stories and broadcast/newscast pieces per week, and regularly contribute features and enterprise work. Cover at least one breaking news shift per week. Establish and maintain relationships with individuals who are credible sources of information.
• Produce stories: Produce web stories in WordPress, including finding images, writing headlines (with the help of an editor), and doing SEO work. Write tweets and Facebook posts for stories, as needed. Produce audio, utilizing field sound to create a sense of place and weaving appropriate sound bites together to paint a holistic portrait.
• Engage audiences: Engage with reader questions and feedback on social media and in DCist’s comment section, when necessary and as time allows. Participate in events, both internal and external, as a representative of the station and subject matter expert.
• General Assignment shift: Assume a general assignment reporting shift approximately one day every two weeks.
