We are searching for an Accountant to join our Americas Finance team. You will primarily be responsible for the Americas tax and compliance filings. Month end close, forecasting and reporting will also be part of your remit, as part of this small professional team.

Job duties include:
• Process statutory filings for multiple jurisdictions in the Americas, including Sales Tax, Property Taxes, 1099s, City, State and Corporate tax returns.
• Manage vendors and the integrity of data and controls for NAM related systems, such as Payroll, Workers Comp, 401k, Mobile phones.
• Assist with audits, both internal and with regulatory bodies, such as the annual processes for Workers Compensation and 401k audits.
• Complete the month end accounting process to ensure accurate and timely journals in compliance with GAAP. Analyze variance to forecast and budget.
• Assist with the provision of quarterly forecasts and annual budgets to ensure timely, accurate and meaningful information and interpretation for management.
• Develop and maintain robust month end and forecast financial models.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, to ensure processes are followed, regulations are complied with and standards are met.
• Liaise with Head Office finance to facilitate and troubleshoot AP, AR, Banking and Vendor issues that arise regionally.

About you:
• You will have knowledge in fundamental accounting principles.
• You will have a strong attention to detail, be able to prioritise competing tasks and be deadline focused.
• You will have experience with corporate tax filings in the United States and you will have a strong ability to research issues and make recommendations.
• You will have demonstrated experience in investigating variances and handling complex reconciliations.
• Your strong communication skills will see you building strong stakeholder relationships within the business.
• Your experience with large Accounting systems and confidence oin Excel will see you picking up this role quickly.
• Your driven and continuous improvement mind set will see you challenging the status quo.

This is a hands-on role for a competent individual with an appetite to build their skills. Air New Zealand offers a warm culture, great benefits, and a flexible working environment. Working closely with our third-party contractors and the wider Air New Zealand operational teams your role is to manage daily operational issues and mitigate against any impacts from a customer, operational or business perspective.
