SALARY RANGE (Depending on Experience): $57,838 - $84,754

We base salary and position offers on experience and an internal equity analysis.

Employment Status: Exempt; Regular; Full time (37.5 hrs)

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

· Ensure staff have the tools and support they need to work at DRC and where applicable, meaningfully serve clients.

· Ensure best practices are developed and implemented with reasonable accommodations, education, trainings, research, requests, and the interactive process.

· Provide input and influence practices that support a disability friendly work environment where employees with disabilities can do their best work.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential functions include:

- Build relationships with staff to understand the specific needs of employees with disabilities. Serve as the primary contact for employees and supervisors regarding reasonable accommodations.

- Simplify and streamline the reasonable accommodation process so it is easy to understand for staff and supervisors.

- Facilitate the interactive process with supervisors and staff. Consider reasonable accommodations that make it possible for disabled employees to do their jobs and unit needs are met.

- Identify and respond to reasonable accommodation requests quickly. Create and share timelines for staff and supervisors and meet those timelines.

- Implement reasonable accommodations, including arranging for any necessary equipment, assistive technology, furniture and/or modifications to the workplace.

- Monitor the effectiveness of reasonable accommodations and adjust as needed.

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of reasonable accommodation requests and approvals.

- Maintain files related to reasonable accommodations.

- Create an internal website for staff and supervisors to easily find information about reasonable accommodations. Include a list of examples of reasonable accommodations and resources for staff and supervisors.

- Research and share information with staff and supervisors on how to make training, testing, systems and tools accessible.

- Assist with developing training on reasonable accommodations and disability-related topics for employees and managers. Train staff and supervisors.

- Assist with emergency evacuation planning. Gather information on what disabled employees need in the event of an emergency evacuation from a DRC office location. Develop a plan to meet those needs. Identify specific staff members at each office location to help during an emergency evacuation from a DRC office.

- Provide input and feedback on practices that support and influence a disability friendly work environment and culture.

- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.

- Collaborate with various committees and Employee Resource Groups within the organization to ensure a transparent reasonable accommodation process.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

- Lived experience as a person with a disability.

- Understanding of the intersectionality in culture and disability.

- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in human resources or a related field, with experience in reasonable accommodation and/or disability management.

- Strong knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices related to reasonable accommodation and disability management.

- Familiarity with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.

- Experience with assistive technology applications, such as screen readers, speech recognition, and alternative input devices.

- Experience working with assistive technology users and understanding their needs.

- Experience mentoring and training others in assistive technology software, devices and their usage.

- Demonstrated ability to develop creative and innovative reasonable accommodations.

- Positive attitude and role model.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Certifications:

- Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC),

- ADA Coordinator (ADAC),

- Assistive Technology such as Dragon, JAWS, and Kurzweil.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to travel as needed (up to 20%). Must be available to travel to Sacramento 4 times a year for activities, such as all staff meetings and/or approved trainings.
