As an Account Manager in our economic development practice, you’ll be managing a portfolio of client accounts, developing earned media strategies and telling stories focused on topics such as
• how cities and states are solving affordable housing shortages
• how professional sports help advance local economies
• what makes a place’s startup ecosystem unique and successful.
You don’t have to be an economist or even have a background in economic development to apply. All you need are the qualifications listed below. We’ll give you the training necessary to become an expert in economic development. Combine that with your existing skills and talents, and you’ll be ready to thrive in your new role.
Qualifications
• 4-5 years public relations and/or journalism experience required; prior agency experience required
• Exceptionally creative, AP-style writer
• Strong understanding of public relations strategy and the ability to craft, present and defend a media strategy to a client and oversee its implementation
• Manage and oversee multiple client accounts, serving as the main point of contact for clients, setting the strategy and overseeing its implementation from start to finish, and project managing the internal service team to ensure program deliverables are met
• Identify and develop a story angle when there is no clear hook. Able to draft a concise pitch to national print and broadcast reporters
• Manage & mentor a team
• Can provide solid examples of identifying a story idea, writing the pitch and landing the placement
• Strong experience in managing workflow, which includes responding to clients, writing pitches, mentoring staff and meeting short- and long-term deliverables and deadlines
• Experience with managing a budget and meeting deliverables
• Ability to travel at least once/quarter, if required
• Applicants must be U.S. citizens or have all necessary approvals to live/work in the U.S.

You will report directly to the Senior Director of SEM & Media but will work alongside client strategy and client success leads as well as the performance team. In addition, you will collaborate with DCI’s other service teams, like social/content, website, PR and more.
As a firm that specializes in attracting visitors, businesses and a talented workforce to communities around the world, we’re looking for someone who has a passion for places and a keen understanding of what motivates a tourist, business executive or employee to pick a destination. The SEM Specialist will have at least 2 years of experience, preferably with some knowledge of economic development, talent attraction and/or the tourism/travel marketing industry.
Responsibilities:
• Assists client success leads and strategist with daily client management and project management.
• Analyzes monthly paid and SEO performance reports to share key takeaways for client, including pinpointing trends and making recommendations on client campaigns.
• Launches, manages and optimizes paid campaigns on Google Ads, Facebook Business Manager and LinkedIn; including building audiences, uploading ads, adjusting bids and keywords, and building UTMs.
• Manages and monitors ongoing campaign performance and budget pacing.
• Assists with SEO audits and services, including conducting keyword research, creating meta tags and alt tags, monitoring, on-page optimizations, and backlinking.
• Writes new content optimized for search engines for clients in the economic development and talent attraction spaces.
Skills:
• Intermediate knowledge of SEO, with at least one year experience with on-page optimizations and writing new SEO content, as well as experience using SEMRush
