The difference between a cloudy beer and a clear beer is the amount of yeast that is left in suspension.

Cloudiness can indicate that the beer has not been filtered properly. When some brewers make their beers, they leave some of the yeast in suspension as a natural process to create some cloudiness and help it age quicker. Clear beers on the other hand are those which have been filtered to remove any yeast left in suspension.
