You Arden University is a growing organisation delivering online only and blended study options to students studying towards undergraduate degrees and master’s and MBA programmes. We have study centres in numerous locations across the UK, as well as a centre in Berlin, and a head office based in Coventry.

The Role

This is a freelance role Delivering at our Berlin Centre.

€ 35/lesson (à 45 minutes) for Teaching German as a Foreign Language.

You will be teaching Arden University blended learning students by utilising a range of innovative learning materials and resources.

Being experienced at teaching students in German as a Foreign Language, you will be able to demonstrate your ability to deliver student-centred teaching approaches. We attach great importance to communicative, action-oriented language teaching in which the focus is on the students. Arden lecturers should create an engaging and dynamic environment to provide opportunities for students to play an active and autonomous... role in learning. You have German language skills at native speaker level.

We prefer that the language lessons take place on the target language German. A high degree of intercultural competence is also one of the basic prerequisites for cooperation. You must have a GFL or GSL degree and demonstrable teaching experience.

Ideally you will have a teaching qualification such as the International House Certificate for Teaching German as a Foreign Language or EUROLTA European Certificate in German Teaching to Adults. In addition, you will hold an undergraduate degree, as well as holding, or working towards a Masters.

As our teaching is done both online and in person, experience of delivering lectures and supporting students in an online or blended learning environment would be desirable. Exposure to virtual learning environments, and other online tools to support student learning (e.g. Moodle, Blackboard or similar) is also preferable. We run occasional staff training events in Berlin and our Coventry Head Office, there would be an expectation for you to attend where possible.
