Responsibilities

We are seeking an entry level, part time Payroll Officer (30hrs per week) to join our friendly team located in Brisbane CBD – with hybrid work options available.

To succeed in this role, you’re positive, proactive, flexible, resilient and highly customer focused. You’re able to work mostly autonomously, but still be an integral part of the broader team.

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Payroll Processing - Working on end-to-end delivery of fortnightly payroll with the support of an experienced Snr Payroll Officer.
• Customer service - Respond to payroll queries from employees and leaders in a timely manner.
• Compliance - Efficient delivery of services to ensure compliance with regulatory and ethical standards and proactively act to minimise and address the risk of any breaches.
• Continuous Improvement - Champion process improvement of P&C activities.
• Client engagement - Ensure there is a focus on building and maintaining client relationships both individually and within your team environment.

Qualifications

You will have minimum 2 years’ experience in a corporate Payroll environment with competing priorities and deadlines.

Other skills and experience include:
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• The ability to meet deadlines and escalate issues that may impact a processing deadline
• Outstanding Customer Service
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
• Understanding of HR processes and of the regulatory employment frameworks in Australia

What You Will Be Doing
• Providing information and referrals to enquiries received from people impacted by disaster events, their families, carers, service providers, government... agencies, and other members of the community. Enquiries will be via the telephone, email or face-to-face.
• Contributing to a professional environment through personal commitment to, ethical behaviour, staff wellbeing, skills development, professional growth and continuous improvement.
• Confirming applicant data is accurately captured in systems
• Maintaining information and referral systems and resources
• Assisting in guiding clients through the Resilient Homes Funds application process
• Supporting clients during the construction process and link them to information and services
• Maintaining adequate records of activities and interventions with the client group and prepare reports and correspondence as required

What We Are Looking For
• Experience in the provision of services to clients and in working with the community sector, including clients who may be distressed.
• Contemporary knowledge of human services service delivery policy and practice.
• Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft products, in particular Excel, Outlook and database software.
• Considerable experience in problem solving and achieving outcomes for clients with difficult or complex issues
• Possession of effective interpersonal and communication skills to assist clients, families and carers to identify and access relevant information and services and provide appropriate referral information to clients who are experiencing crisis
