JOB SUMMARY: The purpose of this position is to ensure the Information Technology (IT) infrastructure (hardware, software, voice and data networks, storage, servers, cloud, mobile and wired telephony) is maintained and works reliably to meet business needs by providing day-to-day operational support for existing infrastructure services and end-user support for those services; and completing moderate to complex technical assignments and project-based work to promote the effective use of new and existing technology.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The following duties are typical for this position. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.
• Repair breakdowns or malfunctions of IT equipment
• Maintain, analyze, troubleshoot, and repair computer systems, hardware and computer peripherals.
• Document, maintain, and upgrade or replace hardware and software systems.
• Support and maintain user information including rights, security and system groups.
• Support, monitor, test, and troubleshoot hardware and software problems pertaining to the Local Area Network.
• Install new software, upgrade, evaluate, and install patches to resolve software related issues.
• Perform system backup and restore files on computers during repairs and new computer installations.
• Responsible for ensuring that all work orders are completed promptly and efficiently.
• Train and support all staff for the purpose of implementing technology as required to meet staff’s needs.
• Support technology requirements for all Authority meetings
• Assist with updating and maintaining technology related inventory.
• Performs all other duties as assigned and directed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The following generally describes the knowledge, skills and ability required to enter the job and/or be learned within a short period of time in order to successfully perform the assigned duties.
• Operating Systems: Familiar to proficient with latest version of Windows, Exchange Server & Windows Server. Network configuration principles for printers, PC’s and other related peripherals required. Familiar to proficient with desktop automation software including Microsoft 365, exchange outlook, and Internet software. Excellent diagnostic abilities for hardware and software related problems and ability to perform work with minimal supervision required.
• Hardware: Dell and HP servers and PC’s. Familiar with laptop configuration and repair, PC and server maintenance and troubleshooting, upgrading hardware components for servers and desktop units, printer maintenance, and configuration of units for the network as needed.
• Software: MS Office suite, Adobe Standard and Professional and other miscellaneous software in support of Norfolk Airport Authority.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other Authority personnel, tenants, business partners and vendors of Authority, and the general public.
• Understand installation, configuration and trouble-shooting processes for software, hardware and networking accessory equipment.
• Must be self-directed with high level of personal initiative.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
• Must have ability to work under emergency conditions and under difficult situations. Considerable initiative and good judgment are required to determine causes of failures of electronic equipment and affecting repairs, scheduling inspection of electronic equipment, and servicing equipment to keep them operating efficiently are essential.

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

EXPERIENCE:
• Five (5) years of technology experience supporting IT infrastructure including networks, security, and hardware; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

CERTIFICATIONS:
• Security+ Certification required, either current or must obtain within first 6 months of hire.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Possess a valid driver’s license and must meet NAA driving record requirements.
• Ability to obtain and maintain eligibility to hold a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge as may be required by assigned job duties and responsibilities.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS: Persons with disabilities may be able to perform the essential duties of this class with reasonable accommodation. Some work on 12-foot ladders. Employee must demonstrate the ability to perform these essential functions during their physical examinations.

EQUIPMENT OPERATION: Technology-based related equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS/HAZARDS: Normal office environment where there is no physical discomfort or exposure to hazards due to temperature, dust, noise, and the like.

DRIVING RECORD REQUIREMENTS: All drivers must be at least 21 years of age, licensed for at least 3 years, have the type of license required by their state for the vehicles operated and meet the following driving record standards. Any applicant who has been licensed in their state less than 3 years must provide a copy of their previous driving record to Human Resources. A Virginia Driver’s license must be obtained within 30 days of job start date.

An “unacceptable" DMV driving record includes the following violations during the most recent 3-year period:
• Two or more at-fault accident convictions
• DWI/DUI
• Drug Offense
• Eluding a Police Officer
• Committing a Felony with a Motor Vehicle
• Foreign citizens with no historical driving record available to us
• Hit Run / Leaving the Scene of an accident.
• Lending an Operator’s License or Registration to Another
• Three or more moving violations

Note: Texting or cell phone violations are considered moving violations because they increase the chance of being in an accident.
• Moving Violations & Accidents – more than 2 moving violations and/or at fault accidents within the past 12 months
• Open Container Violation
• Passing a Stopped School Bus
• Racing or Speed Contest Violation
• Reckless Driving
• Speeding 25 mph, or more, above speed limit
• Speeding – 10 mph or more over the speed limit in a school zone
• Current Suspended License
• Suspended License History – Drivers who have had 3 or more license suspensions as a result of moving violations.
