Job Summary

The Head of Lexicography leads the Lexicographical Content Team and directs its content strategy across Dictionary.com and Thesaurus.com. In addition to ensuring all lexicographical content published is authoritative, relevant, and engaging, the Head of Lexicography works closely with the Senior Director of Editorial and cross-functional stakeholders to develop and execute the strategy in line with business and brand goals.

The primary location of this role is in Oakland, California. You will have an opportunity to share your preferred working location with your recruiter. A remote role may be considered for this position.

Responsibilities
• Help develop and lead the strategy to nurture and grow the online thesaurus
• Direct and execute the strategy for maintaining, updating, and expanding an accurate, up-to-date, robust, descriptive, and inclusive online dictionary and thesaurus
• Supervise and grow essential roles of lexicographical content production, including: dictionary defining, thesaurus editing, pronunciation, etymology, usage, cross-referencing, style, and copyediting
• Oversee and strengthen essential processes of lexicographical workflow, including: assignment, review, delivery, and validation of content
• Partner closely with the Non-lexicography Content Team, SEO, and Marketing to inform and support broader editorial strategy and a unified user experience
• Leverage SEO, analytics, market trends, and industry innovations, such as data science and machine learning technologies, to guide lexicographical content strategy
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Design to inform and support broader business and brand goals
• Inform and support the strategy to leverage core content offerings to build and pursue partnership opportunities
